Barlow Tyrie is a family business and with over 80 years' experience is the oldest manufacturer of teak outdoor furniture. They still produce many traditional pieces as well as leading the way with contemporary designs and new materials, which include aluminium, stainless steel and Textilene. They currently hold 12 international design awards for their products, many awarded recently for new designs.

All their products are manufactured to the high standard of quality that has become synonymous with the Barlow Tyrie brand. They only use the highest quality materials, which include solid, marine quality brass, '316' stainless steel and the highest available grade of teak, legally felled on plantations in Indonesia and Brazil .

The private plantation from which Barlow Tyrie sources its teak in Brazil is currently seeking FSC certification and despite a lengthy period of illegal logging in Indonesia, a few of their forest districts are now working towards reinstatement of the FSC certificate they lost in the year 2000, due to the illegal activity.

In addition to a factory at Braintree , England , Barlow Tyrie own and manage a large factory in central Java with facilities for sawmilling, kilning, machining and assembly of their furniture and parasols.
