Expert advice at BFM webinars
A series of free webinars will give the furniture trade an opportunity to access top-flight expertise this autumn.
Three online seminars will be hosted by BFM in September.
On Thursday, September 16, Ian Whitfield, a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney for Reddie & Grose LLP will deliver a webinar centred around intellectual property rights, including an overview of design protection in the UK, case studies of registered designs in the furniture manufacturing industry and advice on protecting designs without legal representation.
This will be followed by a webinar from Fox Williams on Thursday, September 23, which will see Fox Williams, a City law firm, talk to BFM members about the latest issues affecting manufacturers and their distributors and agents.
In the third webinar, representatives from the FHIO (The Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman) will outline the services offered by the independent, not-for-profit, government-approved organisation at a webinar on Thursday, September 30.
As well as outlining ways to deal with consumer disputes, the session will consider common disputes around the furniture supply chain covering issues arising out of the Consumer Rights Act 2015: Guarantees and Warranties, alongside ‘Burden of Proof’ and ‘Privity of Contract.’
BFM MD Nick Garratt said: “These webinars are a great opportunity for BFM members to expand their knowledge and gain insight that will help them protect and support their businesses.
“We are grateful to our partners for sharing their expertise with our members and I am pleased that there are further events planned for October, which we will announce details of shortly.”
Each webinar will last between 30 and 60 mins, with an opportunity to ask questions at the end. The sessions are free and the trade can book a place online at Furniture Manufacturers Events | Furniture Shows, Fabric Shows (bfm.org.uk)
As well as booking details, this online area lists all upcoming webinars from the BFM.
