UK furniture production below pre-pandemic levels

According to an index produced by the Office of National Statistics, output of UK furniture manufacturers was 18.4% up on 202o the level but it fell short of the pre-pandemic 2019 level by 6.5%.  December’s figure was also down by 0.8% compared to a month earlier and 3.4% down on December 2019.     

Total turnover reached £8981 million in 2021 compared to £7283 (+23.3%) in 2020 and £9311 in 2019 (-3.5%). These turnover figures are not confined to the value of UK manufactured furniture products but include for example the sale of products manufactured by sub-contractors or invoiced services.
